Assistant Director

Andrea Dulin is the Assistant Director for the UNC Charlotte ADVANCE Faculty Affairs and Diversity Office. She received her B.S. in Physiology and her Ph.D. in Neurobiology from University College Cardiff in Wales, U.K. Her Postdoctoral studies in Houston, Texas focused on understanding how the immune system can modulate nervous system function. After receiving funding for 5 years from the National Institutes of Mental Health, she established her own lab in Houston, which she transferred to UNC Charlotte in 1998. While at UNC Charlotte, she received an NSF grant to study molecular mechanisms underlying immune – induced neuronal plasticity. About 18 years ago, she decided to leave the bench to focus on writing about science. She has published articles for First Consult, a web resource for Family Physicians, and has written and edited grants, presentations, reports and manuscripts for faculty at UNC Charlotte and Cannon Research Center at Atrium Health. She joined the ADVANCE FADO Office 12 years ago, and serves as the Assistant Director. In that role, she works with the Director, Yvette Huet on developing and implementing programming, and writing reports and grants to support the work of the office. She is also charged with disseminating resources and information to the campus community and beyond through the ADVANCE FADO website.
